I don't have time for a long answer right now. Let me give you all some fast facts:
* We have MP3+G now playing on our develeopment systems and MP3 will be trivial. Thus, you will be able to go find a mp3g song and add it to the playlist in Hoster, along with WMA and KMA songs, and also mp3.
* The mp3g will NOT initially be in the Songs database or Song book. That will take modifying the Import Track structure to allow importing them into the Songs Database. I expect we will do some sort of batch import, and then you would use the Edit Song command to open those files in Select Single mode) and set the song Parameters, unless... we can count on the id3 header being all one way. Still, you will need to edit them in some way. They pretty much all us the same psychoacoustic removal techniques, so batch conversion to KMA versus reimporting should not sound any worse than your MP3G files do now.
However, importing from the CDG disc to KMA directly would sound better. Your choice... time saved versus quality improvement over what you now have... and have been happy with.
* We have reapplied for the MP3 license and expect to have it before much longer. If not, we can always do what our competitors do and direct you to the lame.dll... if the MP3 licensing group doesn't want our money.
* Using mp3 compressed files and converting them to wma will NOT damage it any more. The mp3 has the worst losses, and our audio compression experts worldwide we have talked to for decades tell us that "decompressing a type 1 file and recompressing it with type 2 compression will add no additional damage."
That's all for now. Hope this helps stear the posts in this thread in the correct directions.
