Angry Serial number does not match registration number.

When I purchased Microstudio, I was running Windows 98 SE (with all the updates installed). On your recommendation, I purchased and installed Windows XP -- It upgraded my system rather than installing a new install. Now, when I try to go to Microstudio, it gives me the above message, and tells me to reinstall my software. If I do that, I no longer have my backup copy. Please help.
