2008 is an entirely new code version. It is self sufficient and requires nothing on the computer to work.
As other posts in the forums have pointed out, a very nasty bug crept into 2.008 after the last beta test round! RATS!!!! All we did was add the bloody Read Manual button on the front panel.
The problem has been found. Yes, Don, there is a nice hand-print on Elliot's forehead.
When the settings default file was checked into SourceSafe (where we keep our source code masters) it was automatically set to READ ONLY. Due to some anomolie that I was too tired to understand the explanation of, when the final build was done, it remained READ ONLY. Thus, your changes did not modify it. It got past our testing. Frankly we're just too darn tired. I didn't catch it and our very talented and skilled programmer didn't either. It slipped through the cracks.
I'll try to get a new version out before I go to bed tonight. Sorry to make clients be beta testers.
Next time folks, when I say it is ready is when it is ready. The Forum posts and emails became overwhelming and I sucumbed to your pressures. Next time don't anyone dare email me one bloody time about when it will release. Your name will be in permanent black on my wall... and that's not something you want.
As to the $15 demand I am now making to rip you all off and become a milionaire...
To install 2.008 requires the right serial number which is the same that also unlocked 1.115. Early this year we changed our unlock code generator so we could start automated download after an order is approved and paid for on the website. It seemed to me that everyone one day just might appreciate being abel to put in the credit card, and out comes your software immediately. Right?
We provided free upgrade codes until the cows came home. We gave you free software upgrades but you wouldn't come and get them. OK. now there is a charge to get the new serial number. We simply got too busy to do it all for free. You should have taken advantage of the free offer while it lasted. In other words, don't take MTU for granted. There is a breaking point and I zoomed by it so fast I didn't even see what color it was.
Why do we now charge for serial numbers and username-passwords? We get on the average 10 DEMANDS#$% a day from clients who have... lost it and I don't have the time to find it, my computer crashed, my kids erased the hard drive, my doggie peed on my CDROM backup. If I had a dollar for every... well now we will have $15 for every one. We don't have the time to do this for free any more. We provide free suport, and free upgrades. I'm going broke.
Scoob, I've really appreciated your posts in the past. But you show no mercy in the heat of the development. As we say in the Sunny South,
take a long walk off a short pier!
For the record, anyone pissed off enough at MTU to want a refund get your emails in now. If we can't make you happy, at least we can get you out of our database.
Sorry Don, you've known me from the late '70s. I bet you never thought I could get hacked off.
