I have the same problem with my laptop, and the offset does work. for me.
I don't think it is a ram problem because I am running 512 mg and it does that. I am beginning to think it is a laptop problem as laptop drives run at 4200 rpm where desktop computers are 5600 and 7200.
The laptop I am having a problem with is a compaq presario 900 with a 1.7gig xp processor it shouldnt have a problem.
