I had the same question about a year ago. Even when HP states the type of drive that they supply with a particular PC it does not guarantee that this is what will come with the computer.
I purchased an HP PC that was to have been supplied with a 8100 (Sony) drive and I rec'd a completely different drive which was not compatible with Microstudio. Apparently they stick whatever they get the best price on at the time the CPU is assembled.
The newest versions of Microstudio support Plextor Drives and I would suggest that you purchase one from MTU to be sure you are getting what you need. Trust me, getting a compatible drive in a "Store Bought" computer that will work with Microstudio is like finding a needle in a haystack.
It costs a few extra $ from MTU, but is well worth the extra cost to have a drive that will produce quality CDG burns.
