My answer is probably too late but if I can help someone who has a Yamaha drive well...

My experience tells me that the Yamaha brand do not support the cdg when the DMA is enable, you need to disable the DMA to import in the hard drive.
Once you disable your DMA (both CD-rom & HD) you should be able to get a good graphic, maybe not has nice as a Plextor but a lot better than what you're getting.

MTU is correct when they say the DMA should always be enable, but with the Yamaha's, it's probably the only exception.

This fact was also supported my ADMIN in the past.
