First, what you are trying to do should work. I have not heard of your problem before.
Here are a few random thoughts (forgive the "commercial", but this may be the only fix):
1. Microstudio 2.314 is now a very old version. We have added a LOT of upgrades and bug fixes, and possibly that would fix your player problem.
Click here to read the upgrades. Specifically, there was a bug fixed (item #5) in version 2.400 that prevented Microstudio playing from a CDG disc you made.
2. KHP 2.008 is also a very old version. Many bugs and new features have been fixed and added.

Maybe a user who experienced your problem has a work-around you can use for now.
