DirectX 9.0b

I found out that all the video card I tried Hoster demo with does not support directx 9.0b, could that be the problem?
The support for directx 9.0b starts at series 8500. The problem is to find an ATI Card, it's back order every where!
Would you know if an ATI 9200 128megs Series is better than the ATI 9200 Pro 64 megs?
Did you ever tried Hoster 2.0 on an older ATI Card like 7000 Series?
