It sounds like something that sometimes happens when the audio hardware accelleration is set too high. Check here. It tells how to reduce the hardware accelleration of your sound card. Not saying this is definately the problem, but it does sound like a possible cause. And the easiest to try. If that doesn't work post back and we can try other things.
