It seems clear that the edit button was originally put there for purposes mentioned above. Even when I get the "no permission" message, it doesn't say "There is a new policy" or "Only Administration is allowed to edit"
It only mentions
making sure one is only editing one's own message or
being logged on This makes the message doubly frustrating because obviously if I follow those guidelines, I will still get the message. (In other words, someone needs to "edit" the message, because it is confusing)
I know myself that in the heat of frustration I have said things in posts that were too biting. Any time I have edited a post, it would be to tone it down, not escalate the issue. And again I have edited for clarity.
