i defragged my computer and it took out whatever was causing my speakers to cut out and in. i have been thinking of upgrading to xp and that will probably be my next investment. thank you for the suggestions. all of the ones that i have received have been very helpful. it's nice to know there are people out there willing to help that have the knowledge i sorely lack computer wise.
