I can't remember where the fade setting was in 5.10 version but using the latest Hoster it shows under Tools/Settings/Playlist, in that dialog is a fade in & fade out setting Yours might be a different path but it should be under the playlist settings.
Even though you use the Audio output jack from your computer it is still advisable to disable the audio part from the HDMI playback settings. When you make an HDMI connection the computer normally defaults to activating the audio out through the HDMI I vaguely recollect this contributing to the audio dropping like you referred to in your post.
So I recommend you check the Windows playback settings to see if when you connect your HDMI source the HDMI playback shows as Disabled, if it shows any other setting like default communication device or ready then right click it and set to disabled.
