Pbltwo,

Sorry you’re having problems trying to make a compilation disk.
Your burner is a Sony Spressa CRX140E, and writes at 8x, read at 32X and rewrite at 4X. It is an old drive that does not support "burn proof technology." This drive received very bad reviews from both consumers and professional reviewers when it came out. It is a drive very prone to buffer underrun problems.

"Write command failed" and "Illegal command request"

These messages are usually associated with two specific problems: Bad Media and Buffers Underrun

First, try a different media. A good media for that drive is Sony’s own “Extreme Media,” and while at it, you may try using the burning software that came with it, also by Sony, called Extreme Media, then try burning regular music CD.

If you still have the same problem, then you may have a buffer underrun issue, which mean that the computer is not sending data to the recorder fast enough. Since the recorder cannot stop to wait for data, it fails.

Please post back and we’ll take it from your next post.

A a side note, I recommend that you consider upgrading your CD burner to a newer one that supports Karaoke and has built-in burn proof technology.

Here is a link for such type of CDG burners that I highly recommend and that MTU guarantee!

Here is another link for ALL drivers currently supported by MicroStudio. Please notice that not all drives in this list have built-in burn proof technology.

Good luck,
