Yes, I have read some things about the windows 8 registry problem, as I don't have it I can't really advise what to do.
When you re-install Hoster, in the screen just after where you accept the conditions, you get a screen with just 2 tick boxes, if you tick the bottom one which reads "Click this if you are reinstalling Hoster and wish to clear all known settings" that is supposed to be the equivalent of deleting those registry keys. So if you did tick that box when you upgraded and are still getting the problem then the problem must be elsewhere.
I have never checked myself that it does remove all those registry keys but remember reading about it when it was first introduced.
I can't seem to find any info on it now though.
