Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

"The only thing I have been doing different the last four shows is that I have completely disabled McAfee and VirtualDJ.

Last night I put VirtualDJ back into the picture by playing a video and an mp3 with slideshow before the show and left it on and up as I usually do. For the 4th consecutive night with McAfee disabled, I had no crashes. I even played a song from the songlist using the yellow play button when the current song had less than two seconds to go and that didn't start any trouble. Did a lot of songlist editing and movement and instabutton playing too. I'll continue this or Wed. and Thurs. gig and hope for the best. Then I'll put McAfee back on again and see what happens. It just seems that so far when McAfee has been disabled that I have remained "crash-less"."

For those following my posts and programmers trying to resolve:
The above italicized post referred to Tuesday night's gig.

On Wenesday night: Used the same scenario (no McAfee AND Vdj running in background) . Played a few videos and mp3's with a slideshow going (done before show while VDJ simply stays up on laptop screen behind Hoster as always done before).
There were no crashes with 57 singers over four hours.

On Thursday night: Precisely the same scenario.
Two hours into the show there was a Hoster must close crash, as before. The song was a GDCDG and it was "In Heaven There Is No Beer". I was not doing anything while the song was playing. It crashed immediately after the song was done (as in all other reported crashes).

In summary, while I was getting at least 2 crashes a night before with McAfee and VDJ running. I got no crashes Thru 160 singers (3 nights with McAfee off and VDJ off) AND ONE Crash after 125 singers (2-1/2 nights with McAfee off and VDJ on).

This simply appears to be very random (took nearly 300 singers over 5-1/2 nights for one crash to occur) and too infrequent to catch a specific program being the direct cause. It has crashed with or without McAfee running. McAfee apparently not the culprit.

Next step: I'll go back with having VDJ off and see if I ever get a another crash, (may take days), and, if and when I do get another crash with VDJ off, I'll then leave it on for a while and see if I ever get a crash with it on (may take more days).

Roy, do you keep VDJ up and running while you host?
