Can you just check out your settings.
With an external monitor connected right click on blank area of your desk top, select screen resolution from the window that pops up, at the bottom where it says Multiple displays, is it showing Extend these Displays or something else ?
If it shows something else use the drop down arrow to select Extend these displays then press apply.

I cannot seem to duplicate your problem but as it's happening on both your computers it must be a setting that you are using.

If you setting is showing as extend these displays let us know and I will look further into the graphics card set up to see if I can duplicate it.[/quote
