It had to rebuild the database because it has extra fields of data that weren't in the previous version and although you will not notice the difference because you lost the data, the singers list is a lot faster in opening in this version for peaple who had large lists.

I think when you canceled the rebuild just as it started was the start of your problem, before it starts it makes a back up from the existing. Perhaps you canceled it before it built a new singers.mdb then when you restarted it I reckon the singers.mdb was now blank and it built a back up from what was now a blank singers.mdb

Sorry to hear the restore point didn't work, I can't think of anything else you can do. Always a good idea to make a backup of the Hoster folder itself stored somewhere else other than the computer, like a cd.
