When you upgraded to Windows 7 (on your Vista system?) was this an upgrade or a full reload? If not then some parts of Vista are still active.
Did you check your settings for Win 7 after you upgraded to make sure everything was still set right?
Is your external drive a CD drive or a hard drive? Is there anything on this drive associated with Hoster?
Since you have support tickets in they will be in a better position to help you than we would here in the forum. Until then be sure you have that external plugged in before you even turn the system on until this can be figured out.
