I don’t think auto-notification is your problem.
In Windows XP auto-notification doesn’t affect the disk burning process one way or another. Sometimes problems disappear, magically, after a simple reboot.
Since you had your system off for a week and now is working fine, you may not see that error message again.
Let’s hope that’s the case.
