First have you gone through the changes required for Windows 7? Here is the link for doing this:

This is most likely the cause of the disappearing songs. Vista and Windows 7 both have a bad habit of determining that Hoster should not have access to some of its files. The above changes will stop Windows 7 from hiding those files.
