I find on my Laptop (Dell Vostro that I use for "computer" use) that if I don't power off every few days, all sorts of unexplainable problems start appearing with IE8, Firefox and other programs I use.
Before you run Remove Silence, I'd turn the computer off and back on to insure you have a fully cleaned boot.
Also, I use System Mechanic to clean my system "hives" every few days, and to clean Registry entries that get corrupted (how that happens I'll never understand

) and compact Memory usage. I think without this, my computer would bog down and become more and more worthless.
Another tool (free) I use is CCleaner. It sometimes finds Registry corrputness that Sys Mech doesn't.
