Please read my post above for most of my answers. You don't need to contact us for a reset if you are running Hoster 4.05 or higher, AND your computer doesn't die so you can't remove it while on-line. You may not be aware that Microsoft changed the way they issue Serial numbers when you install or upgrade Windows. That changed the ball game for identifying a given computer installation. In anticipating they may do such a dastardly thing (we've been Microsoft Developers since 1989 and KNOW they do these things), we have a number of fingerprint items (not just Windows SN) and our script is VERY FORGIVING if you don't upgrade your hardware and Windows all at the same time. Otherwise, it will look like a new computer. We have polished and polished our security for over 8 years now and we simply can't make it any more forgiving. But... the computer hardware and software CANNOT all change together. That our only requirement.

We have ONE GOAL in mind every day, every minute... HIDE THE SECURITY FOR OUR HONEST USERS. Make it as transparent as possible is our goal, and we have accomplished that within the past 1-2 years, depending on the MTU product. We answer to our Heavenly Father and serve our customers, and HE takes care of our income. We NEVER want "bad profit" that we didn't earn.
We have upgraded over 10 years from your getting a Serial Number locked to your computer's MACID number, to issuing a new RegCode at every X.X version change, to issuing existing customers an "Upgrade RegCode" with every "X." version upgrade, to now we internally CHANGE your old RegCode in your database at our web site to now be able to install the NEWEST release. Our current way is FAR easier for all our customers (many of whom are over 60 and couldn't handle a RegCode and an Upgrade RegCode).
Furthermore, you don't have to keep a back version of Hoster's installation program around to Upgrade over top of it, which was required until recently. Our current "upgrade" method converts your older RegCodes to install the latest released version. Your web database at mtu.com now tells our registration script what you have bought and can install. If you want to install the same older program (i.e. never upgrade again) as many times as you want, you can now do it. You can even move it to a new computer, or upgrade your current computer hardware AND Windows at the same time, if you first remove it while on-line. Then you can re-install on your upgraded computer, or a totally new one, and do it as long as you live.
We are on the verge of adding Blogs, Facebook, and Twitter as new ways to keep you informed of what we are doing. By October end I hope, we should have these 3 new "contact" tools available on our web site. We estimate of our users we email announcements to, that under 5% open and read them. So, we aren't getting the message out to you... our user. I expect to add a weekly upgrade to the product blog we are currently upgrading, then tweeting to those who are following MTU so you are instantly notified. No, I don't want to be "in your face" all the time and I hate mail lists I'm on that do it to me.
I will be blogging about the new features we are considering adding in, and directing you to (for example) the
MTU.Community Hoster New Features Forum where I will explain more in detail, including polls for your preference votes. Also, you can give us feedback pros-cons there on our proposed changes. If you want to be kept informed or participate in guiding our developments, then follow us on Twitter when we have it on our web site.

Well, if you have ANY program, not just Hoster, and it was designed to run on Windows XP back in 2002, when Windows 7 didn't exist in any form, how the heck can you expect to install that same 2002 program on a new operating system in 2010? I hope you see the fallacy in your thinking here. You will ALWAYS have to upgrade to run on a new Windows OS. The same thing goes for CDR/DVDR optical drives. They ALL (even Plextor) changed the way the worked, and we spent well over $100,000 to migrate to the new way, and provide the BEST import error correction on the market. We didn't have to do that, but I am DRIVEN to do the ideal, superior product whenever possible.

I'm sorry you don't understand software developments, archiving, version control, etc. What you are asking for simply is not possible. PERIOD. We make a release with all the bug fixes we can at that time, we make some upgrades based on your feedback and we add some new features. We are holding off more on the new features immediately after a major NEW release (such as Hoster 4.20 was), knowing some bugs will be reported and we'll fix them. To make the "KMH" changed we did, we had to first perform massive "under the hood" upgrades to get ready for this architectural change.
When we make a release, we immediately start on THAT code base for the next releases' fixes, upgrades and new features. There is no "going back" and adding new features in a prior version. I'd close MTU's doors tomorrow if we were forced to do that! I hope that is a sufficient answer for you.
It took us 22 MAN MONTHS of time to get Hoster stable on Vista, and because we made that investment, it didn't take us but months to add Windows 7 support. It might have seemed longer to you. Then of course, we discovered that Windows 64-bit had some massive changes over there 32-bit version, which we polished fully on XP. Heck, there are MANY MANY MANY programs in the various industries that still won't run on 64-bit... but ALL MTU products do now. It was quite painful to solve the 64-bit set of problems.
BTW: I do NOT consider our adding 64-bit support a "bug fix". It was under every stretch of imagination a FULLY NEW feature as there were no bugs, but we had to discern what Microsoft changed and then conform Hoster to it.

Read about our changes (my prior post above) that allow you to move the software. Also, on your show machine, don't put all sorts of garbage programs on it, preserve it for your SHOWS and:
1. Add ZoneAlarm Home (free) as a bidirectional firewall
2. Add Semantic anti-virus and
3. NEVER NEVER NEVER click a link that takes you to any page with a "z" in its name, such as kazza.com (you'll get about 45 viruses, trojan horses and keyloggers as soon as you visit their home page, and soon you will be broke with stolen identity).
Learn to protect your SHOW computer. If you insist screwing up your computer yearly, NO karaoke software vendor will want you as a customer... especially if you won't even buy the upgrades designed to fix ythe very problems you are reporting.

I have addressed this above. We have made IMPROVEMENTS that make it easier for prior and new customers to buy, install, use and upgrade our software. We will NOT sit still and die on the vine. The world marches forward. At 62 years young, I don't like the changes we are forced to undergo either, but I assure you, we will change as we must. Otherwise, we won't be here for you to ask for help.
