Yes I have windows media 11. I can go into my external drive and go to my wma folders and click on a song and it will play in windows media.

It will NOT play when I click the audio button on Hoster and try to play anything from my wma folder. As I said previously, the green play lights up but the time counter does not move and no music.

I did go to the Tools Tab/Audio controls and checked my Playlist Audio card.

My "play list audio card " is a : SB Xtreme Audio Notebook.
My "search audio card" is a: Sigma Tel Audio.

I tried switching them and it made no difference.

Just an idea ........ but have you tried to use only 1 Audio Card for everything rather than just switching? Disable one of them & see what happens.
