I had thought about purchasing a small mini tower to use for my shows. But after thinking about it, i would have to carry along a monitor as well, more wiring to do, so i choose a laptop, and not sorry that i did. Of course i purchased a good laptop. I know...i know...some guys have cases where their PC and everything fits together....
First the laptops that MTU sells are top quality "rugidized" laptops that they make sure will run Hoster effectively, just as they make sure the disk drives they sell will work with CDG disks.
I don't know of any programs designed specifically to run on under-powered lower quality laptops. Hoster is designed to try to use the least amount of processor time possible to prevent overloading the system. However there is no way to design a program to work with a slow sound card or a video card with too little memory.
The situation was running on battery rather than A/C. When a laptop goes on battery everything is slowed down because the amount of power fed to each of the items decreases slightly to make the battery last longer.
Laptops were originally designed for businessmen who travel and was never designed as an entertainment device. They still are not up to what desktops are capable of and probably never will be.
I wouldn't know about your warranty statement as I have never seen that on any of mine. As far as my show machines I built them so I guess they have a lifetime warranty. They are the Shuttle-type cases complete with handles and travel quite well.
