update to no sound from hoster in vista

update to the situation

I have a ASUS Notebook F3 series laptop that had video hoster version 3.316 that has worked ok for the last 8 months. however today when checking some songs i noticed that there was no audio output from hoster.. however when i tried windows media player this played ok and sound fine. when checking sound system on pc both speakers sound in test mode. however thinking that hoster may have been at fault i upgraded to version 3.321 after initially the software removed the old version. after rebuilt data base i found that the new version was just the same as the old. could any one please shed light on this issue as i am not the best cumputer wiz kid by far (Old man really)

hoster will play videos that are on the same external hard drive as the kma files. but even though kma files play there is no sound when they do
