Question before installing 3.321

:? Has anyone who has upgraded to 3.321 on Vista had any trouble playing songs from previously saved Playlists?

After reading the detailed Instructions from MTU, there is a NOTE regarding that possibility!!!!!!!!!

:e If that is even remotely possible, I am afraid to upgrade now???????????? It has taken 2 years to compile my PERSONAL lists of songs that just I sing. My jobs are to do all the singing for 3-4 hours!!!!!

Those problems were because they had to move the location of their KMA files. As long as your song files are not located in the Program Files area then they should be ok. If you have been doing this for a while I suspect your KMA files are already located somewhere else. If they are in the Program Files area, then you risk losing them because Vista doesn't like user files in that section. Several did lose theirs with 3.318 and 3.319.
Playlists (not done automatically) and songs database (done automatically when you "Rebuild") will have to be moved but that would not cause a problem. The new location is C:\MTU\Hoster.

Thank you for explaining that.

When I installed 3.317 on Vista to begin with, I copied from Playlists from my other computer. KMAs were already on an ext.HD, so no problem. I just had to make sure the drive letter remained the same.

One more question - The instructions clearly state that the "playlist files" should be moved from within the Program Files\MTU\Hoster\Playlist folder. It does not say to move the "entire folder", just the contents. Then it says to move them to C:\MTU\Hoster
So....does that mean a "Playlist" folder is no longer necessary. Just put the hst files in Hoster & not in a file folder? Or will Hoster create the Folder first, before I move the playlists?

No folder necessary. This Hoster folder is to contain all the changable files such as playlists and databases.

OK, the upgrade to 3.321 on Vista is working great. Zips files are now playing & no problem reading all my Playlist (hst) files.

DDouglass, thanks for your help!:)
Now, what do we do the the old Hoster folder in Program Files? Should it just be deleted now that everything is under C:\MTU\Hoster ???

I also posted this under "Vista Problems", so hope I don't confuse anyone!:r

The Hoster program is still in the Hoster Folder, the manual is still in the Manual Folder, and the Bucket database file (the rest can be deleted out of it) is still in Databases Folder so don't delete them. The rest you can delete.

I thought 3.321 was installed under C:\MTU\Hoster and that's why we had to manually move the Playlists, so that Hoster would get everything from one Folder.

From what you are saying, it sounds like Hoster now goes back & forth between the 2 places, i.e. still using files from within Program Files.
Are you sure?

Non changable program files are under C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster....
Changable files such as the Songs.database, playlists and KMA files cannot be under the Program Files (per Vista rules) so MTU created the separate folder C:\MTU\Hoster for those.
So yes Hoster uses two areas for files storage.

I'm wondering why MTU didn't put in their "Instructions" to delete the old .mdb & Playlist folder from the Program Files folder, after upgrading to 3.321????
