Errors, Not Responding, And Shutdowns

I was on line a few hours yesterday. Microstudio kept toggling from active to not responding. It also gave me the "sorry your going to lose all your work" but we're shutting down. Very frustrating. I was trying to make a practice audio disc, and had to begin three times befoe I just gave up.
What's up? Any Ideas?

missing letters in titles

Everything has been working fine, however yesterday---
I was compiling an audio disc, but when I send it to the "Write a Disc"
The first three letters in the title are missing, (ie: making "I Love The Way", appear as "ove the way".
This happens on all titles loaded with the button???

When you look at the applications listed in Microsoft's task manager it querys each application open. If the program does not respond within a very short time frame, then it will list it as Not Responding. The programs being asked may be busy with a task and unable to respond on time. This isn't a cause for alarm.
I am guessing the message is that Microstudio is shutting down and not Windows. However to try to answer this we need a lot more information.
What operating system?
What version of Microstudio?
When you say "on line" are you referring to being on the internet?
What brand/model of burner are you using?

Click on one of the titles, then hit the Home key. That should show you the first part of the title.

Thank you ddouglas, but that doesn't tell me why this suddenly started happening. I've loaded over 500 of my discs into hoster, and made single copies with Microstudio, so I am familiar with the programs. This wasn't happening before last Friday. What has changed??

JohnD February 25th, 2008 08:24 AM

The "not responding" appears on the header of the Microstudio program window. It comes and goes. Sometimes in the "tray" it says "not responding, but the program on screen is working, performing the functions??

What operating system?
Windows XP
What version of Microstudio?
4.006
When you say "on line" are you referring to being on the internet?
Yes, with a Verizon internet access card.
What brand/model of burner are you using?
A Plextor PX-760A purchased from MTU.

I spent a half hour compiling Audio songs for a practice disc, only to have Microstudio shut down and lose everything.. Three times. VERY frustrating. I finally gave up and just used my Yahoo Musicbox.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Nothing has changed. You just have some titles that are longer than the window. You can change the width of each column and of the whole write window.

ddouglass February 25th, 2008 09:48 AM

Make sure you have the latest firmware update from Plextor for the 760.
If you are compiling these from disc then try importing them then setting up your disc from those.

I tried expanding the "title" column width, but nothing happened. The first few letters are still omitted.
I do understand that an excessively long title will delete the last few letters [and substitute dots], but not the beginning letters??
Also, as I stated earlier.. I've loaded thousands of songs with no trouble... this is a new problem.
And Thank you for your interest and responses. They are much appreciated:)

HELP!!!
I found the firmware update you suggested.. dated Sept 2007. I took it and now my drive won't read the graphics. The audio plays but no words???

GEEEEZ!! :) SORRY!!!!!:f Monday brain freeze!!! The disc I inserted was an audio disc... I just tried a CDG and it worked fine...

Now, if only the upgrade will fix the shutdowns...

Thanks again ddouglass.....

John, since Microstudio was working, and now isn't doing the same things the same way, think about what you may have added or installed on your computer. Something has changed, other than Microstudio. What could that have been?

JohnD February 29th, 2008 01:50 PM

nothing, honest. other than MTU Suite upgrades. or MS updates. no new programs. aside from email, MTU is my primary use for my laptop.

JohnD February 29th, 2008 02:02 PM

Ok, I just tried again...
I opened Microstudio and loaded 5 songs from a file within my computer.
Everything was fine...
I then clicked the Write a disc tab.. and loaded the same 5 songs, but the first 2 letters were omited. [Because -- was shown as cause] etc.

MTUSUPPORT February 29th, 2008 04:50 PM

John,
When you state that it is cutting off the First 2 letters, can you tell me what field this is in? I just tested this on my system using 4.006 and I can't see the same problem.

Also what type of files are you using? I was importing them directly from the CD, then clicked to put them to the Write Disc, using the Write Disc button.

Good Morning Bryan:
The same thing you did.. I used Microstudio to rip the songs from several discs.. then used the "write disc" feature to compile a "practice" disc from the file where MS saved them in my hard drive.
I did notice that the songs were imported "Artist-Title".. Thinking this could have an effect, I renamed several [deleting the Artist or unknown - placed before the song title..] then retried the Write disc, with the same results.

The column I'm refering to is the TITLE column. I tried widening the coumn with no change. That only affects missing letters from the rear of a long entry. [i.e.- Because -- is shown as cause]
