God I hope not, I will drop texting off of my phone! I have had it done as well & tell them THAT ARE SITTING 2 TABLES AWAY to get up & walk up here! :e

CerealKiller February 15th, 2008 08:28 PM

I don't own an "electronic leash" oops I mean cell phone, cause I really don't want to talk to people that bad.

Monolithent February 15th, 2008 08:28 PM

I hope not

My wife bothers me enough with text messages while I'm working. If I started taking them from all my customers I would never get anything done. Plus, it would be hard to maintain my rotation rules if I started taking text requests.

I refuse to do it until I can find a way to integrate it fairly into a rotation and prevent errors as well as appease all those who do not even know how to send a text message (we all know they exist and some might even sing karaoke).

First rule would have to be that the person must be inside the building or on the grounds while sending the message.

Just my opinion.

If you had your cell off or didn't bring it, would you had ever known?

There's your answer!

I choose to run a karaoke show and NOT talk as if i am in a phone booth, leave the booth, attend the show, no one knows the difference.

Lonman February 16th, 2008 02:15 AM

Another reason, unless you have unlimited free texting, it costs like $.15 cents per text - i'm sure there are plans that are cheaper & more.

Don't worry, cell phone addicts will pay an expensive price in the long run...sad too.

Cell phones are used in our house for emergencies only, and we rarely have an emergency.

Read and heed.

If I have to worry about cell phones & microwaves (what about your microwave ovens), then there is no point in going outside. Most places I go to now days have wifi, 90+% of everyone I know has a cell phone, for this study to say stay away from people who have one is ridiculous - it's not going to happen.
If I am going to die - which can happen anytime in your life be it accident, purposely or naturally, it's going to happen, I am not going to stop living life just to try to live longer. When my time comes it comes.
It's like that little joke, aren't all of these health nuts lying in their hospital death bed dying of nothing going to feel foolish! :g

I sure don't.

I don't find it living, but I do find a necessity for my business. It's not like I live my life on the phone, but I do live my life outside my house often & sometimes need the phone when i'm away. Phone booths are going into non-existance by the year 2010, it's harder & harder these days to find one as it is.
My business line is now my cell line as I was never home & missed calls for potential business & bookings. Now I don't!

Some folks don't know that a phone is for talking on. All these great plans, texting, music downloads, and mp3 player all rolled into one.

KNOCK (*&)(&)_*_G KNOCK PUT A FEW MORE TOWERS FOR A BETTER SIGNAL, FOR TELEPHONE CONVERSATIONS!!!!!!!!! PS TAKE THAT SQUAWK OUT OF YOUR WALKIE TALKIES, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE.

I have a step son, keeps his family poor and he carries a $600 cel so he can text his friends, play music and download videos, or watch tv. Turn it off, I'm quite sure where you are doing your gig they have a phone for emergencies.

Agree with all the extra crap they put into phones now days. Some are mini laptops with keyboards you have to use a little pointer stick to type each letter. A phone should be a phone. I got one for my 11 YO son so we could know where he is or get hold of him or for him in emergencies, I just wanted a basic no frills phone - they don't make them. At least I was able to get one without a camera & he can't download from the internet.

They sell prepaid cell phones and phone cards cheap...no contracts or monthly bills. Some brands are only good for a year, but it's still cheap.

I generaly don't care for phone calls at work but I wouldn't mind hearing from this thing http://www.monstermarketplace.com/El...g4104a406.html

Often I don'thave a secure place to park if the club or bar is busy when I arrive. Something like this calling me would make me a bit more comfortable.

It's on my list of things to look into further.

muzicman144 February 20th, 2008 07:30 PM

Here's one for you

Hadn't thouight it out from that viewpoint. Sounds like a great device!!! The speed of technology makes everything one buys obsolete before he/she can learn to use it. But, there must be cell phone that can be set to only receive calls from approved numbers only.
