Suggestions as to Hoster hookup to my rack

I have just changed over to the Hoster program. I'm going to leave my Karaoke player in my rack (just in case of any problems with the computer).....I have someone helping me out and they've put a power strip, all of the cords, cables and external hard drive... in a plastic tuperware tub with a hole in the side for the cables to come out of to be able to hook up to my rack, however....it looks very messy! Any other suggestions as to what to do with all of this in the tub?

Thank you so much for your reply....however, my rack is completely full!
As a creature of habit, I've been using the same rack, full of equipment,
for the past 16 years! My crowds and I love my sound, so that can't change (actually, I am a little concerned about the sound of the KMA
compressed files, but we'll see)...anyways....maybe I'll just have to check out the computer rack mount that you mentioned....do you know where
they sell those...maybe Guitar Center? It's a laptop, so how would I set
up the laptop in the rack mount with all of the wiring and external hard drive?
I have another question....do you know of any computer programs that
work for just DJ music? Right now I use a separate box with my drawers
and controller in it and I set it on top of my rack, but everything is getting
so bulky! Of course, I only use the the DJ unit when I do private parties.
Thank you!!!!

Fear not, the KMA files sound better. I sugest you import you discs using 192, the highest sample rate.

I use a DJ program called SAM Party DJ which works with Hoster without a glitch.

Laptops are small which is good in my eyes, Maybe you can rearrange your stuff and set your laptop on top of your rack,

I Hope This Helps!

i used to carry all my gears in a dj coffin, not including my laptop and hard drives, which is so heavy, i bought 2 road cases 14x23 ,( one for ea. of my laptops ) but i had to do some customizing, i have all my hard drives ( 3 hhd per case ) inside the case, i then secured a thin right angle brace on 4 corners, cut a piece of plywood covered it with black carpet cut to size, cut a hole on the plywood ( for my hdd and power source cables ). a little bit of work but its worth it, takes me 10min. to set up, its light 15 lbs. compared to 80lbs. and looks clean, dont have all that cables hanging all over the place..and yes guitar center carries them..and also i use pcdj, or itunes if i have to do a private parties

i use sam dj also for my dj jobs and i love it, works well and no problems running that program along with HOSTER......right price for two decks and cross fade feature,,,,,if you just want to play music and cross fade dj songs, sam dj is a good program, you may need an application if you want to inventory your songs though for book printout like for weddings proms etc.

good luck,,,,,

Sam DJ and Hoster....

Hi, thank you very much for your reply about a week ago! A few questions....
---Running Hoster and Sam DJ together in the same laptop
won't mess up either one? I thought Hoster recommended that
it be ran by itself. Will the 2 together cause any problems?
---When you do a show or party...how do you go between the
two programs....is it easy?
---On Sam DJ, how do the disc's get loaded? As with Hoster, when
you put a disc into the system, it has all of the titles for that particular
disc already in the program....so with Sam DJ....I have alot of DJ
compilations with various artists....does Sam DJ have every
disc out there already in it's program or am I going to have to type
in all of the song titles and artists?... How does that work?
---You mentioned another application for the song print out on
Sam DJ.....what do you recommend, or do you, personally, even
make a print out? I don't usually give my customers any kind of
song print out.
Thank you so much!!!!!!

Some of us on here run separate programs for DJ along with hoster.
The only problem i would think you can run into is if your DJ program is playing videos or running a slide show along with the music. If you are running straight music,
you should have no problem, in the event you do, please let us know, we will fix it for you.

no problems at all whether you run windows media, musicmatch or sam dj as a second application open along with Hoster. With SAM DJ there was not a cd ripper so i use win media or musicmatch to rip all my cd's, then just add the folder or directory with sam dj,,,you pretty much create folders (playlists) with sam dj, but you can search songs easily. It's an easy program to run....but there is not an option to print out your music in book format for a client to look at. I suspect you could buy a program that would organize and do that for you, might be worth the money, i use musicmatch jukebox i have had for 5 years, only to print out my songs in book format.............

i have used hoster for video (dance video's) not sure i'll continue though, it's not bad, but moving forward into dance video's as a DJ/VJ probably means there is "better" software and that might be when i jump to a different DJ software all together????

Good Luck,
Randy
