serial number does not match registration

Dear MTU Hoster,
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn[IMG]http://forum.mtu.com/ /><o:p></o:p>
I have been using Hoster for a couple of years now. I’m able to use version 3.316, but when I upgrade, I get the error, "Your serial number does not match your registration information". Here is what you told me to do.

You need to remove the software, then Get all of the Windows Updates. Once you have done this, it will install and work.

My work computer has to be disassembled, removed, and brought home to get Internet access. It is very frustrating to tear everything apart to upgrade, but I have done this. I live out in the boonies, and my Internet is to slow (I’m lucky if I get 16 kbps). I have tried many times to update my windows, but it times out, and says, “The page can not be displayed”. When I bought your software no one said I had to have a fast Internet connection to use it. I don’t think it is fair to make people connect to the Internet to use the software they have paid for. I understand keeping your software secure, but it seems there is a problem when a program becomes so secure that the paying customer can’t use it. Do you have any ideas how to fix, and alleviate this problem?

Thank you,
Very Lost and Confused Customer

Don't know why you were told to do this. It is the wrong instruction. :? :e :s

Your problem is you are typing in your Registration Code OR... Registration Email incorrectly when you try to install the new version. That is what is causing the Serial Number mismatch error.

As to Windows updates, we are at Microsoft's mercy. As we add new features... that you folks request... we use features in Windows that trigger the need for their latest and greatest updated thingamagigs. It is NOT our choosing, never-the-less, some features we add will require some update we are not aware of. We don't like it either. For now, that's a fact of life. If you can't upgrade your Windows, then don't upgrade your MTU software.

As to our security, it is relatively transparent, and as pointed out above, not the culprit. If you enter the correct Reg Email and Code, you've got a good chance of it running... without the latest Windows upgrades.

Try it and let us know.

just because the computer is new, doesnt mean the software they give you is up to date.

When we buy our Laptops, we spend many hours doing all the Upgrades. To our humble knowledge, no other computer seller does all the Updates as of the day you buy a new system.

The way the manufacturers install Windows is using a clone master disc, and this is NEVER upgraded until a SR1, SR2, etc comes out and then they MAY install it. We have seen numerous examples where even the Service Release packs are not installed. That's why you must do it when you buy elsewhere than from MTU. We deliver a working system. :c
