Unable to read Karaoke disk

I am trying to import karaoke disk tracks into Hoster. Hoster is only reading three or four of the tracks on a disk. Why doesn't it read all the tracks so that they can be imported.

I am using WINDOWS XP. Hoster Version 3.318 and have downloaded all the updates.

For example, one of the brands I am having trouble with are SAV.

I am using the Plextor for reading the CDG but have also tried using a standard CD/DVD.

Also, how do I add a brand to the options available for importing tracks? We have purchased new CDGs and they are not listed in the list of brands.

For example I have disk such as Sing It Now, Keith Urban and I am unable to import the tracks because there is no disk id.

One thing that comes to mind is what is the condition of the CDs? Are they scratched or dirty? Does it show error for the rest of the songs on those CDs?

If the Brand isn't listed then the diskID won't be either. However you can type them in then fill in the Titles and Artists for all the tracks on that CD. And you can find the DiskID on the label of the CD.

Hoster Unable to Read CDG Disk

When I attempt to import songs off a disk, the disk may have 15 songs but Hoster will only indicate three or four songs are on the disk; such as 11-12-13, the last few songs but never the whole disk.

The disk are fairly new and in good to excellent condition.

Adding Brand Names

When I click in the "Brand" dialog box I am not allowed to type anything in it myself. I can only select an existing Brand.

The disks are in good to excellent condition. No error messages are displayed.

When you try to type in the brand name box what happens?
Are you using Vista or XP?

George January 14th, 2008 01:16 PM

I don't think she's activating the drop down menu.

truluckjoyce January 14th, 2008 01:47 PM

Brand Name Box

I am using XP and when I click in the brand name box I get no cursor allowing me to type. Only the list of preset brands appears.

Brand Drop Down Menu

Yes, I am clicking in the brand dialog box and clicking on the drop down arrow. The preset brands are displayed but there is no way to type a new brand.

Did you try selecting UNKNOWN BRAND, CUSTOM ASSEMBLY, or PRIVATE RESERVE from the list that appears?

truluckjoyce January 14th, 2008 03:26 PM

Brands

Someone previously had figured out how to use Unknown and Private Reserve but I am unable to add any to the list. Several disk were added under each of those categories. I want a brand for each of the disk. When I put this disk in Hoster does not reach what is on the disk so that I can import them.

Brand List

Yes, I tried reusing or adding to Private Reserve and Unknown Brand but Hoster will not "see" the songs on the disk.

I can put a disk in the drive and select Brand and pull up Private Reserve or Unknown Brand and click the track number drop down arrow which will give a list of track numbers that do not agree with the number of tracks on the disk that is in the drive.

The SAV disk and select the disk id, the track drop down option will read only the last 3-4 songs on the disk. When I click Add Track, it will not add the track.

Once you click on the box and the list drops down if you will start typing it will enter those letters in the box until you finish the name. Then click in the DiskID box and do exactly the same thing. When you click somewhere esle the Brand and diskID you entered will stay there.

At the risk of asking a dumb question. Did you try typing something into the brand field? As soon as you open the import screen the brand field should be highlighted so you can just start typing if you wish or use the dropdown box.
There is no obvious cursor per se' unless you click the mouse inside the field.

That statement proves the program is working.

What's been bugging me since the start is "someone".

Is this your computer? If so you should know who that "someone" is. Starting to wonder what this whole setup is. How many people are messing with the computer?

Is it possibly a security issue and you simply are not the administrator and are not authorized to make any changes?

No trying to be argumentative, but as simple a procedure as adding an unknown disc is, we need to know what we're dealing with.

Brand Name Box

Yes, Sam, I did try to just start typing. However all it did was shuffle through the alphabetical listing of the preset brands. It allowed me to do no original typing. It simply moved through the index of the drop down menu.

Hoster security

Yes, I am the administrator. A DJ in my employ was paid to import songs from my disk library. I would love to ask her how she figured out how to do it - several months ago - but she is no longer in this area and I don't have access to her.

However she did, what she did, it was done I believe by accident.

It is conceivable that I could continue adding songs to the Private or Unknown, if Hoster would recognize the disk and display the track numbers. But it will not.

Have you tried reinstalling the program? Maybe there's a glitch that will correct itself. .

truluckjoyce January 15th, 2008 11:47 AM

Brands

That may be the next option - just as soon as I have time. We have not been very successful on the occasions when we have had to reinstall Hoster. I may not tackle that anytime soon. We shall see.

Except for the part about not letting you do any original typing it sounds like it's working as it should. It's designed to anticipate your typing but when you type something it can't anticipate it stops doing it and should let you type what you want.
For instance if I want to enter "NOBRAND" as a brand, when I type N "Nashvile Star" will show up. As soon as I type O it will change to "Northern Country". As soon as I type B it will stop anticipating my next move and let me finish without help.
The diskid field will behave in the same way.

If it's not behaving this way I'm sorry I've got no other suggestions.
