need to purchase upgrade

just got an email that says i have to buy the upgrade, and my last bought upgrade was in 2005, which i believe was wrong, thought this is a free upgrade, i got 3.317, , i read that as long as the first # hasn't change to 4 then it would still be a free upgrade, ( everything else was a free upgrade after the last upgrade i did ) that's the reason why i havent bought any.

Check you account and see what upgrade and the date you purchased last.

it sayd dec 2006 ugrade 3.300 from prior version, everything else after this i think was a free ugrade..

I don't think that is correct. Anything before 3.310 requires a purchase of upgrade. So either you should have another purchase recently for 3.317 or you obtained incorrectly and it shouldn't install.

if i'm not mistaken 3.310.is the latest one that i bought for $24.00( if this is the one where you only have a few days to install ) and after that most of the upgrade was free..

If that is the case then you need to reply to Support's email and correct them on the date and which upgrade. Did you give them the correct email address for that order?

Re: Upgrade

When we bought 3.310, we were told that we would not have to purchase any more upgrades until 4.000 when they re-wrote the whole program. I guess they had so many bugs, they needed more money to fix them.

that's what i thought, but anyway , i dont think they needed more money, they're probably just too busy or an over sight..

Yea, they have been awsome to work with. I was kidding about the money. I hope that they come out with the fix in the songboog that helps fix duplicates by the same company.

just got an email and i guessed i'm am not entitled to the new upgrade, since my last upgrade was in 2005, but i was just wondering what was the $24.00 i paid for this year...and i thought we dont have to pay for any upgrade while it's still on 3.xxx only when it goes to 4.0..but anyway i'll just wait for 4.0..

computex13 January 5th, 2008 12:47 PM

I am waiting for 4.00 also. I probably could find the email or thread that told us there would be no more charges until 4.00, but it's their program and they are in control. It's only $29.99, but I am running fine without it.

Normally if the first 3 digits don't change then the upgrade is free. So updates from 3.31x to 3.317 would be free.
The $24.00 you say you paid this year was it under the same account or did you start a new account? Or change your email address?

computex13 January 5th, 2008 01:04 PM

As far as my store account says, I paid $24.00 for 3.300 on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 for $24.99. I, for some reason, had to always email them for my upgrades. I haven't changed any account information for years. I think whoever is in charge of their web store and does their internet stuff just doesn't have the experience for the type of volume they have. They try and, most of the time, get back with you in a couple of days. The last upgrade I received was 3.316. They told me that anything after that, I needed to pay another $39. That is not what I remember the original agreement being. But, like I say, I am happy with what I have.

no i havent change anything, yes the $24.00 was under the same acct. that's ok, i believe 3.318 doesnt have a lot of diff. from 3.317, then i'll just wait for the 4.0

Gentlepersons, I am not at liberty to explain why we wrote special scripts to limit who could install 3.318.

However, if you have any purchase of Hoster or an upgrade since March 30, 2006, you can download and install 3.318. The email said those who bought 3.310 or later, and 3.310 release March 31, 2006.

If you bought before that date, I don't think you can fault us for asking for a contribution. We spent a large amount on Hoster engineering in 2006 and 2007. March 30 from December 30, 2007 is 21 months. That's almost 2 years of free upgrades.

So be unhappy if you must, but I won't loose sleep on this one. Frankly, we should have changed to 4.0 when we released version 3.314 on January 7, 2007 with the improved import error correction. We didn't for various reasons. But now, we need to limit who gets free upgrades and who doesn't.

Enjoy... be happy... :w
