If you check further down the upgrade page
http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/microstudio.htm

NOTE: This version was named 4.004 so our emailed download instructions could still deliver the 4.004 file, even though it is the 4.005 code named 4.004.

so if i download the upgrade even if it says 4.004 , i'm actually downloading the 4.005 version?

Yes that is what it is saying.

That's not too swift because it asked to replace 4004, which means if there's a problem with 4005, you can't reinstall 4004, so I aborted the download.

They need to alter the .exe file to the extent it will not replace 4004.

mstudio4004install.exe or something similar.

George, the only thing they fixed in 4.005 was a mistake introduced in 4.004 with Renaming files that left the extension off. So basically all they did was fix a coding error in 4.004.

i think i'll just stick with the 4.004, i dont really use mstudio that much anyway,

Anyway, after I posted I went in and made a minor change in my existing 4004 file name and the new file couldn't overwrite it. I simply took the s out of setup. Easy enough to remember down the road if need be.

They still need to protect the troops. Wouldn't be the first time fixing a small boo boo messed up something else. The fact they were fixing a "mistake" bears witness to that.
