song book

:f i just bought the hoster program. i can import my songs just fine, i go to the tab at the top that says songbook i select the format, fields, and content then at the bottom it says songbook location: hoster/songbook then i click create it says it was created . then i click veiw songbook and it opens office word but when office word loads it has a window come up and say that the file songbook is not available. so what do i do?

madjim- with the Lord December 11th, 2007 02:24 PM

The SongBook file is located here:

c:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Songbook\SongBook.rtf

Open Word then go to the SongBook.rtf file (with Hoster Closed) and see if works.

If it does, open Hoster and go to the songbook window and reset your viewer program using the "Select Viewer" button.

P.S. Make sure you have the format of the document set to two columns. :r

Also please only post your question once on the board, this helps everybosy help you! :)

ok i went to where you said but mine does not have songbook or songbook.rtf

madjim- with the Lord December 11th, 2007 02:44 PM

Do a search for "SongBook.rtf" using windows search. Are you using Vista? Also what version of Hoster are you installing? Also where is your Songbook location set? (the windaow above the create button in the songbook window)

did a search no items found. yes im useing vista. when i click on songbook another window pops up and says create songbooks and at the bottom it says songbook location it says hoster/songbook it doesn't have c drive or anything else, but it won't let me change the location.

madjim- with the Lord December 11th, 2007 02:55 PM

That's what it is supposed to say.

Vista is not letting Hoster create the file. These is a setting for this but since I don't use vista I don't know exacly where it is. Have you searched the forum yet?

Open the folder in Windows Explorer they told you was the location of the file. Press the Compatability Files button up top. The files should appear. Now create the songbook again and all should work.

i went to where you said too, clicked the compatibility files tab. it brought up the songs file but it was songs.mdb, songs_backup.mdb, and temp.mdb. after that i went back to create songbook and it still says the same thing.

ddouglass December 11th, 2007 10:20 PM

It just clicked......you are looking in the wrong folder. There is a Songbook folder and the file inside it would be "songbook.rtf".
The "songs.mdb" file and "songs_backup.mdb" file are in the ....Hoster\database directory.

i dont know if this is right but when you import your music do you change the directory in that tab? because mine says destination hoster\songbook, is it suppose to be c:\program files\micro technology unlimited\hoster\songbook ?

Beavis December 12th, 2007 08:22 AM

The songbook is located in:
C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Songbook

You can set the import folder to where ever you want Hoster to store the KMA files including external drives. The correct location in the Hoster foldr if that is where you want it should be
C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Songs

Are you sure you are not referring to the Songbook Tab where you create your songbook? There it does show the path as hoster\songbook and that I believe is normal and it does not appear that you can edit it.

Actully with Vista to find the songbook folder you'll need to navigate to Hoster (after getting their you wont see a Songbook folder) and then click the compatibility file button to get it to appear.

On my computer this is how you navigate directly: C:Users\Samual (this of course will be different on your computer)\AppData\Local\Virtual Store\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Songbook

Songs folder is the same situation as above. Even though Hoster tries to put it here, Vista will redirect it a "safer" location.

In a nutshell what I've figured out is that any file/data that Hoster only reads you will find where you expect. Any file/data that Hoster writes or makes changes to you will find in the alternate locations. The exception to this is external HD's. If you tell Hoster to write a file to an external drive, Vista will leave it alone.
