Hoster KMA merge problem
I installed Hoster 3.316 on a new laptop with Windows Vista. I am using an external hard drive that already has my KMA files on it. I selected the correct drive and folder, clicked the "Merge Into Song Database" button. It appeared to load the songs as I watched it count the files as they were being merged. I then built the songs database, but when I tried to use the program, none of my songs were listed and the pull-downs were empty. I know the KMA files are there because I can see them when I choose the folder to merge. Any suggestions?
Also, I don't know if this is related to my problem, but in another thread, I read a suggestion from ddouglass that read: "The easiest way to fix this and other problems with Vista is to turn off the UNC. There is a FAQ on the Support Page of the Website about how to fix this." I cannot find how to do this in the FAQ and would like to know how to turn off the UNC in Vista. |

i did a merge on all my kma files..dont rebuild you song database once you merge..merging a kma files will change your disc id#'s . on your sec. question..dont really know what the answer to that since i dont use vista.. |
Follow these steps to fix this:
1) Left click on the Start Menu 2) Left click on Control Panel 3) Double (left) click on User Accounts 4) LEft click the bottom item that states Turn User Account Control or on off 5) When the dialog pops up stating Windows needs your permission to continue click Continue 6) Now uncheck the check box beside Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer 7) Now click Ok 8) Click Restart Now when asked if you want to restart your computer to apply these changes. Once the computer has restarted you can go into Hoster and try creating the database again, it should now work without any problems. |
Figured it out
I finally found the fix in the FAQ's. When installing Hoster with Vista, you need to go into the control panel, user accounts, and uncheck the User Account Control (UAC). As soon as the computer rebooted, the database began to load and everything is fine.
Thanks and have a nice holiday! :g |
