Import disasters

I had no problem importing some 400+ files using Hoster 3.316, when I checked my file count in my import folder there was 900
Files that have not imported and I keep getting the same error message no matter how I redefine the field separators on the files that remain.
ERROR Mesg.
(The position of the field (in the Define Order) in an alphabetic field within the selected filename in the file list window.)
1) What does this all mean?

<FONT face="Courier New">5) The files that did import have to be edited because the Artist and Title columns are mixed up, Title in the Artist
<FONT face="Courier New">Column and Artist in the Title column what a mess and wasted hours. I copied all files to one folder and used that for Importing in to Hoster 3.316.
<FONT face="Courier New">I used the Batch button in Hoster 3.316 to Import with disasters consequences.

<FONT face="Courier New">6) Checked Import error log to confirm problem files and checked box to remove Import, I also created separate folders for each Disc brand Nothing seems to work.

First let me say that Importing files from Hard Drive is probably the hardest thing for most people to understand. Read the section in the manual about it very carefully and thoroughly.

Not sure what this is saying. Are you sure this is the exact message?
The setup will depend on which format you choose. Those formats don't show on the screen until you click on a file in the window. For your Example below you should choose the one that says DiscID-Track - Artist - Title.

One thing I see if this is exactly how they are set up is there should be no space between DiskID and Track, just the dash so it should read BS9217-01. Also, what type of files are these (BIN, MP3+G, Zip)?

For one your "Entry Duplicates" means you have 2 files set up for the same BookID so Hoster doesn't include them in the DB. In the Hoster folder should be a log file that tells you which ones are duplicates. To fix those you will have to use the Merge KMAs instead of Rebuild. That will assign a different BookID to the duplicates.

<FONT face="Courier New"><FONT face=Verdana>If the Artist and Title columns or mixed up it is because you didn't use the right format because Hoster does not Look-up any information if it is all there in the filename.

When you check the box Remove Import, that means if the file has been successfully imported it is removed from the list in the window. That way you are not importing the same ones over and over. This is good. Creating separate folders for each brand is a good way to keep them separated to do a Batch import on each folder, then you are not dealing with so many at one time and can find the errors in a few instead of mass quantities.
