Rebuild Database Error
OS- Windows XP on a tried and trusted system, working seamlessly for 2 years. Hoster Version 3.316.
I ran the build song database function and it thro up the following error message during the operation. Field 'Songs.mfgname' cannot be a zero length string would you like to see help? On selecting help it cannot find file jeterr40.chm so cannot proceed this way. I have checked the database and no manufacturer field is empty, therefor I'm assuming there is a problem with one of the kma files. No new files added since last rebuild. OK my questions are as follows 1. Where is this file jeterr40.chm located (I have reloaded hoster) 2. How do I source the kma file with the fault. Otherwise system performing excellently. best regards to all Brucey:? |

The Help file it is looking for no longer exists. It was for Access97 and wouldn't help anyway.
Delete you Songs.mdb and songs_backup.mdb in C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Databases then re-open Hoster. This will force Hoster to build the database from scratch. That should fix your problem. |
i just tld him that in the thread i directed him to!

Rebuild Database Error
None of above worked. Rebuilding database did not sort out problem. Checked the database and no problem found in the manufacturer field which leads me to think this erroneous track has not been added to database but is still lurking in the songs folder. Is there any tool from MTU that checks files for consistency? Cheers:f

Database Error
I'm having exactly the same problem, and have tried deleting the database files, rebuilding, etc etc to no avail. Anyone who figures this out will be my hero!

To brucey and /or transouth: When do you get the error msgs? Before ,during after, etc. What version did you upgrade from? Does Hoster not work properly after getting these msgs etc. The more info the better.

I receive this error message during a database rebuild. When it asks "Do you want to see help" I click on no, and it continues with the rebuild. Everything seems to work fine afterwards, this is more of an annoyance than a major problem. The frustrating part is I can start a database rebuild, and about halfway through it stops with this error, and then won't continue until I click "No" to the help question. This means I can't leave my computer unattended during the database rebuild and expect it to be finished when I return!

C:\Program Files\Micro Technologies Unlimited\Hoster\databases folder. This will list all files not included, so you can look at the list and figure out why. |
I believe this happens when importing a SONG/ARTIST that is too long.
Hoster deletes the whole FIELD when it encounters this. But, you think that it got imported because there is neither a Checksum in the Track List Window upon adding TITLE characters nor is there a warning when Hoster encounters a TITLE that, obviously, won't FIT IN THE HEADER. I ran into this problem when I imported: THP0706-15 Title: Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothers Off Artist Panic At The Disco After importing this track, with this LONG NAME, I thought all was well until I got the POP HITS VERSION and I couldn't remember how I named the Track as the POP HITS VERSION only shows: Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have So, I opened Hoster to the EDIT SONGS MENU and searched for the ARTIST: PANIC AT THE DISCO. To my surprise, the TITLE FIELD on the TOP HITS VERSION was: E M P T Y Moreover, I clicked into the TITLE Box to EDIT the Field and decided that I already had the correct Title showing on the POP HITS version (you know, a little COPY AND PASTE action), so, I clicked on the BOOKID of the POP HITS Version, and as soon as I tried to click on a different object, I got the warning message that the TITLE FIELD could not be ZERO LENGTH and did I want to see HELP. I clicked NO and edited the BLANK Field Manualy. Now, if for some reason I decided to rebuild the DB prior to finding this out, I would, most likely, see your problem. I don't know about v3.316, as I don't IMPORT with any version other than 3.301, but v3.301 actually allows one to enter MORE CHARACTERS, at least, in the TITLE FIELD, than the program will alot towards the HEADER...DUH. Now, a way to find which KMA has a BLANK Field, do this: Open the EDIT SONGS MENU and TYPE an asterik (*) in the SEARCH FOR FIELD and Click SEARCH. When Hoster lists all the songs, see if the first one listed is BLANK. You can always Click on the TITLE COLUMN HEADER a few times to resort the column. Then, look to see if any TITLE is BLANK. You can do the same for ARTIST, BRAND, DISCID, etc. You can do the same if you open the SONGS.MDB and sort the mfgname column. |
Did somebody ever fix this issue the easy way. In my opinion, there is 1 or more kma's that has not been completely deleted. But I managed to fix mine using Access 2003 for info and re-import back the missing kma. Now, evrything is fine and i can leave my computer doing rebuilding database.
