I don't want to rebuild my database
I just installed Hoster 3.316 on a new laptop with Vista. I copied all of my KMA files to a directory & copied a Songs.mdb file to the Hoster/Database path. Hoster didn't recognise this file (which it always did before). When I let Hoster re-build the database, I get garbage. Which is the result of years of typing 1s in the fields & the pasting the real names/artists into the database in 1 stroke.
Is there a way to get Hoster to find my existing songs.mdb file? Thanks....Wayne |
More than likely you are a victim of Vista Security. Hoster can't see the file because it wasn't created by Hoster runniong under Vista. You can try turning UAC off or try setting Hoster.exe to run in Administrator mode. Also, if you didn't already I would also copy the songsbackup.mdb file there too.

Dale is probably right. Songs.mdb is not where it was in XP (bucket is but songs isn't:? ). If you navigate to where you expext the database to be (c:/program files/Micro Technology Unlimited/Hoster/Databases), and then click "compatibilty files" and you will find where Hoster is expecting to find songs.mdb .
Get used to looking for stuff in compatibility files cause when you can't find something (including some of your KMA's) this is where they'll be. Sam |
Thanks for your help!
You were right. I found the files & replaced them fixing my problem. It was wierd because I had deleted the files from 'where I thought they were', but Hoster still had access to the bad data (with no songs.mdb database even in the database file). This is my first experience with Vista.
Thnaks again...Wayne |
Your welcome....and welcome to the wonderful world of Microsoft Vista.....Have a Nice Day!!:r :t :g
