Just Starting On Hoster

Since i can't find a decent player anymore, i have decided to go to Hoster. I have many other MTU products. So i am basically familiar with MTU products. Can someone save me some time and point me in the right direction? A tutorial? or link? from the bottom up. I am going to purchase a NEW laptop just for Holster. My biggest question is getting the sound to my mixer, an interface like M-Audio Fast Track? Can you use a USB port for your line out to your mixer through an interface? George:s

YES you can but i found that firewire is better
like the maudio 410 firewire has less sound drops then usb

usb uses more resorce's then firewire the 410 is sweet

the only problem with hoster is you can't pick your sound card
it will take the default in your system

Two Laptops

The reasoning behind two laptops is for backup. I would also recommend an external hard drive. I spent numerous hours importing cd-gs and I have backed up my hoster songs on both my my primary and secondary laptop as well as an external hard drive. As someone else said the headphones out jack to the mixer will work well.

Another thing is to read the entire hoster manual. There are a lot of settings to adjust in Windows to make your show run smoothly.

Do you think an old hillbilly like me is smart enough to do all this stuff? i dunno, seems like a lot to go through just to keep from hauling along two skb cases of CGg's? :?

You Will Love it

It might seem intimidating at first, but the program is very easy to use and makes juggling 25 & 30 singers a breeze. The windows changes are very simple and hey I'm just an ole Georgia country boy. This program is the only reason I am running a show. If I had to do it with a cdg player, I wouldn't. It just would not be fun. With this program I have time to take bathroom breaks, go around and talk to folks at the tables , and basically enjoy my own show.

Well, i'm sure gonna try my best to stick with it and learn this stuff. Because sometimes i'm a slave to this single drawer player i got. So i figured if in could learn this Hoster program, it would be the cats meow. I will keep you fella's posted. And i again, want to thank each of you guys for all the hep, support, and incentive to get this thing going. I'm trying to down size my gear. My daughter is in Iraq, so i'm here alone, and no hep to load the pickup. So the less i have to load and set up, the better it is fur me. Thanks again guys for all your hep. This is indeed a great forum.
