Installing 4.001 can remove other programmes - When 2.6xx is prior installed version

Hey All,
Have had a frustrating weekend.
After losing all my programmes when installing Microstudio 2.613, which I used to swear by.
I put them all back on and then downloaded 4.001 which is not supposed to cancel all the other programmes. IT DOES.
I loaded it and every other programme gave me the "serial number does not match".
Can get them all back except the most important, Hoster, which requires a special code.
I have Hoster 3.313 but not what I had before 3.316, this I did the update and never put it on a CD, did it without thinking just goes to show however long or however much you think you know you can guarantee you will goof sometime
Regards from across the pond

Hope you are well.

You may have to submit a ticket in the support section of the MTU website to get the registration reset for Hoster.

Read the first sticky post in the Microstudio Help Forum on how to deal with the problem with the Microstudio uninstall shield, should it happen again.
When you try to install 3000 and later, if 26xx is installed, the uninstall shield kicks in and wipes everything.

The trick is to manually uninstall the 26XX folder from the default Microstudio Technology Folder, so the new program doesn't see any Microstudio installed, and the uninstall shield doesn't kick in.

Garry, 4.001 will only fix the problem if you do as George says plus go into registry and delete any references to MTU, Microstudio, Hoster, etc. from it. If you reload 2.xx the problem will return though so I hope you saved that 4.001 download. Then you can re-install your programs and they won't mess up. I know I have been there and it does work. I don't have any more problems with it. :g

Many thanks to George and Dale,
Have submitted a ticket for the Hoster update.
Decided to give Microstudio 4.001 a try so I reinstalled and am now in the process of reinstalling the other programmes.
2.613 is banished for the moment but may rear it's head again if 4.001 doesn't do what I need it to do.
Again thanks, MTU forum support is AWESOME.
Regards from across the pond,
Garry

Again thanks to all who helped me out, with advice.
Support Centre came through and all programmes are again running smoothly.
All installation programmes are now on a new CD.
