Opinion on external hard drive

Okay folks,

I am up to almost 11,000 songs on my laptop. I figure it is time to go with an external drive and also will probably redo my discs at 192kb.

Open to opinions on the size, make and any other particulars as to the type of drive to get.

Actually I will be buying 2. As I have a back up laptop also.

Thanks,

Kelly

I purchased the Plextor PX-SP12U. It holds 120 gig. I have just over 18,000 songs, and it will hold a LOT more. What I like about it is, it's very small, and has a rubber like substance all around the edges, so if it's dropped it won't get damaged. I velcroed mine to the top of my laptop. I am really impressed with it. I have had nothing but trust for Plextor products. Hope this helps.

Thanks Ernie. I didn't know Plextor made Hard drives. My hard drive on my laptop is 100gig. Like I said I'm up to around 11,000 now. I figure to up those songs to 192kb would more than fill it up. So I figure I need to go to a 500 or at least a 250 gig drive.

Still would like some other ideas. Leaning towards WD or Maxtor. And...... this thread probably needs to be moved to "Hosts and Singers Wisdom." Sorry.

I have never had any problems with Seagate. We currently use 250GB SATA drives from them and not one error.

Seagate is all I use as well.

I have both

I have a 160 Gig Seagate and it is very good. I just purchased a 500 gig Western Digital from Walmart.com. It stays next to my desktop computer and keeps all the songs in case I need a backup. The Seagate goes to shows with me. I keep no songs on my laptop. I don't know if that is good or not, but it works for me.
