Large volume changes to my Hoster database
 

Hi,

I have just finished importing a load of new songs into my database and then compiled my song book. The new songs are all in a different text format to my previous set and the book now looks very ugly with songs all over the place. In previous versions of Hoster, Ive used MS Access to tidy things up as it's muh faster than using the Hoster client interface. I've recently upgraded to Hoster v3.316 and the database is now read-only so I can't do this. I bought 4 DVD's with 3700 tracks on them, so you can imagine how long it will take to change them manually! Can you let me know if there is any alternative way that I am able to make 'batch' style changes to my database? I also imported some of the songs into a wrong directory. The way I've fixed this before is to update the pathname through MS Access. Can you let me know if there is an alternative way to do this too please?

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Which OS are you using ....XP or Vista?
What format is on these DVDs? SCDG? MP3+G? MP3+G Zipped?

I'm using Win Xp and the files are zip format

When you are trying to open the database to edit it do you also have Hoster open?

No - I closed it down. I am trying to open the DB in MS Access 2007. Would this cause any issue as I don't think the hoster DB was created for that version?

Just don't convert it to 2007 format or Hoster will not be able to use it. I am guessing that Access is telling you it is read only. If so that would mean there is a second file in the folder prior to you opening it that would be the songs.ldb file. This file is created when the songs.mdb file is opened by Access (or Hoster). If you don't have Hoster open or Access open with the mdb file then that file (songs.ldb) should not exist so delete it. Then try Access again.
