Problems importing from external hard drive

i recently purchased hoster and have had no problems importing from cd but am having major problem getting files off my external hard drive. cannot get the correct parameters set. when files are imported they have title and only first name of artist or only one word of title in field box where i should show all. i have read manual and tried all the options to the side of box where my fiels show up. someone please help. i have approx 5000 songs on drive and cannot properly import any. my files on hard drive do not have disc numbers or brands. just titles and artists. some dont have artist. but this has not been a problem with other program it was being used on.thank you

Your problem is most likely separators. The separation characters are not matching what is used in those files, so it tries to do the best it can.
I would put all those files that import wrong in another folder and check the names to make sure they are all set the same way then change the separators in the format (after you select it) to match what the files are using.
