Bad sounds with Vista

After all the trouble using Hoster with Vista OS. I have finally got all the problems taken care of except one.
When doing a search, you find the song you want. When you click on the song to select it. There is a sound that comes through the speakers. It's louder than the music that's playing. That's not good while doing a show.
I have shut off the sounds in the control panel as well as the startup jingle.
Is anybody else having the same problem?:e

Did shutting off the sounds take care of the problem?

By shutting off the sounds in the control panel. There are no sounds except the one I described.
I even looked in the window files to locate that sound file. I was going to edit it so it was silenced, However it's not in the media folder along with all the other sounds.
The problem still exists

Change Sound Scheme to "No Sound" instead of turning each one off. This should stop all sounds played for any function including startup and shutdown.

After checking my laptop with Vista Home Premium I can not confirm the sound problem you experienced, mines quiet as a mouse.

I would do as Dale suggests and set it to no sounds and see what happens.

Thanks Guys. But that is exactly what I did. One of my employees just got a new HP Laptop and it has the same problem. In Vista when you set it to no sounds, you still have to uncheck a box on the same page for it not to play the startup jingle regardless if you set it to no sounds.
I have done over 30 laptops for my employess with XP and no prblems. However the Vista OS is such a pain.

Oh Yeah, Beavis, Yes I updated everything before I installed anything. Thanks

Check in the mouse control and see if there is any click control? I say this assuming I read you post correctly that the sound happens when you click the mouse on the line for the song.

I checked the mouse in control panel and there is no sound control there.

The only time that sound shows up is when using Hoster. Not any other program such as Virtual DJ or Atomix MP3.

Are you single clicking on the selection or double clicking? If double it may be causing the sound to let you know of an error (like singer's name hasn't been entered.)

Just single clicking. I found the the sound under Windows directory / Media. I used Cool Edit to silence the sound and all is well now.

Thanks Guys. :g
