Video files on autoplay

Last night at a show I was playing 6 consecutive video files on autoplay, the seventh file in line was a song to be sung. On the last video, there was one second left showing when the video was over. It stayed in playing status, I could not stop it to get it to played status. Therefore, I could not get the singer's song to play.
I couldn't close out hoster either, had to ctrl-alt-del, and restart hoster and all was fine.

It could have been the video file, could have been something I was doing as the file was approaching the end of the video, or somehow autoplay and successive videos seem to cause this problem.

Can someone try to recreate this? I think I might have been closing out another program towards the end of the video, that's all I can think of.

Uh... I don't think anyone else will create your exact condition.

What probably happened is when you closed the "other program", it shut down Windows resources that Hoster was using, which causes our video player thread (Microsoft code actually) to get hung waiting for the resource that is no longer running. :r As I said... probably. :t

Try playing your sixth video file that got hung. It may be a bad file. Other than that, don't open and close programs while running any other program, especially at a show. Just minimize it or click and drag it off the screen.

BTW: What was the other program so we know? After talking with our programmers, the consensus is it is that program that probably closed resources Hoster needed.

Virtual DJ, very stressful on cpu and ram, I presume.

MPG Video files will not end and lock up my computer

I often have a similar problem. It happens when playing just one video file in the manual mode and multiple video files automatically. Sometimes the song will end properly and get ready for the next song and many times it will freeze at the end of the song.....and I have to reboot and restart. Not good. I did nothing but watch the screen when this happens.

The same file can end properly one time and freeze another time. Very embarassing having to reboot during a show. Not good.

Pleas help. I am using a Hoster Durabook Laptop.

What are your complete specs on your laptop?

VIRTUAL DJ, AND HOSTER DONT PLAY WELL TOGETHER. BOTH WANT TO BE IN THE FOREFRONT TO OPERATE PROPERLY. yOU MIGHT TRY ASSIGNING A SEPARATE PROCESSOR TO EACH PROGRAM (IF YOU ARE USING A DUAL CORE MACHINE).

Sorry, I am in all caps everyday......... habit, not yelling.

I see gduns. But when my VDJ is on and minimized;
the video is deactivated and Hoster takes priority and
does it cleanly. there might be some other interplay there as well, though.

Could you not use Taskmanager to exit Hoster instead of rebooting?

I've had a number of occasions when the PC would freeze but I was always able to get out of it with taskmanger. XP has always been very stable for me unlike the previous Windows OS's I've used.

When using Virtual DJ togerther with Hoster

When you complete using Vitual DJ just before you switch to Hoster press Ctrl V to switch off video control in Vitual DJ.
You will have no problems with Hoster.

Exactly, I finally figure that one out. Once in a while I forget, though, oops and freeze!

Hi Bryant

I usually keep a notepad handy and write them down as I figure them out for future referance and name the file Hoster/VirtualDJ or VirtualDJ/Soundforge ect. you could remember solveing it but not how all the time especially if you work with a lot of programs.

Have A Good Day Joe....

I meant: I always remember the "control V" sequence, but just forget to do it sometimes.
