Create Songbook difficulties

I have just purchased the newest version of Hoster and am inputting CDG's. When I tried to create and print a songbook, I get an error message that says 'close songbook.rtf file that is open in the selected viewer and try again'. Well I have no such file open and I can not figure out how to create the songbook. Anyone else with the problem?

click on start go to wordpad click and open it then go to file and click on save as drop down to program files, then microtechnologys, then hoster then songbook then at the bottom type in SongBook and save it then you can create your songbooks.

i believe this is being worked on, give it a few days, and a new version with a fix should be out.

You also need to change the file type (second box) to RTF.

Problems with Songbook.

The latest update seemed to caused this problem. Apparently the program can not create a songbook unless one already exists. You can also use word to create a file "songbook.rtf" and save it to the "Hoster\Songbook" directory.

Tisk .. tisk.. tisk.... sloppy coding..

I'll give it a try

Thanks Doug, Dale, and DJGeorge, I will give this solution a try and hopefully be on my way to creating a songbook. Sorry for the late reply, I have limited computer access since I am on the road.

Thank you for pointing out this problem! :w It is fixed in 3.315, expected to release today. We added extra checking for the presence or absence of the .rtf file to cover all bases.

What is reported here, that MTU and our honored Beta Testers failed to test because we an .rtf file was present, is that deleting the SongBook.rtf fails when it doesn't exist. We assumed (incorrectly) that Microsoft Windows would return a successful result when deleting a file that is not there. We trusted Microsoft's judgement... which sometimes is not as it should be.

update to 3.315 from 3.313

I have not yet installed 3.314, so can I just update to the new 3.315?
And, if so, will that include everything that was included in 3.314?
Still need to know if it will work on Vista, for sure, before buying a new laptop.
Thanks.

Sorry to inform you admin but I just installed v3.315 and I still got this error message.

I'm going to try Doug Bracey's solution but just thought I'd let you know. I am also installing this on a friends computer, not mine. He has never used songbook feature until now so maybe that has something to do with it.

Doug Bracey's solution worked for my friend's computer. He is tickled pink with the new Hoster.

Humm..... we'll look at it again. :r

Thanks for reporting this. I'm not sure what is happening now. We made a change that should have fixed this. :?
