Import Issue - DK Applause

Hi All,

I’ve only owned Hoster for one month and am in the process of importing my CDGs.

Hoster 3.314 really does deliver in terms of rectifying the occasional graphics glitches when importing CDG tracks. Several discs with graphics issues where I had been previously unsuccessful at re-importing certain tracks on a number of occasions (using different write speeds and with alternating between HWEC both on and off) worked immediately with just one re-import under 3.314. Thank you MTU.

However, has anybody been able to successfully import the following tracks from the DK Applause Series:

DK3040-08 Lord Have Mercy On A Country Boy
DK3043-11 San Antonio Rose

The issue I have for both of these tracks only is that the Graphics are not flakey as such – more like unreadable through Hoster only, even Ver 3.314. When I play these original and unmarked disks through my CDG players there’s absolutely no problems with the graphics. When I convert the tracks to MP3+G and play them back <!--via Winamp and Karafun--> there are no Graphics issues.

I’ve even tried re-importing the above two tracks as MP3G via Hoster but the Graphics issue is there.

My last resort will be to re-do the tracks concerned via Microstudio once I figure the process out.

My drive is a Plextor PX-760A with updated firmware and ASPI.

Please put my mind at ease. Has anyone else had issues with the two tracks concerned?

Thanks,

Brian

I too have the same problem with the same two songs as you do. But I have found at least 4 more DK (in the original DK song series) that have the same graphics problems.

They are:
1. Original DK# 72-05---Round And Round
2. Original DK# 72-13---On The Sunny Side Of The Street
3. Original DK# 72-14---St. Louis Blues
4. Original DK# 72-15---Carolyn

One thing I have noticed is that when the song lead in graphics are ending, they sweep off at a diagonal on each of these songs. There may be some more DK tracks that have the same problem.

Even tho Hoster is the best, I have downloaded another karaoke program to take care of this problem (I won't mention it here). It would be nice if MTU can come up with a fix to this graphics trouble.

Regards, Dave

Dave, will you please send us a CDROM with 2 songs on it that exhibit this problem? Put your name on the disc so we can return it to you. Also, either reference this Thread Title (or paste in http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=8463).

We will find what is unique in these files and fix it. I will say that in the past when we tackled graphics problems like this, it can take a while to find and fix. The RW renderer code is very complex, and that's what must change to handle problems like this.

Thanks for your feedback Dave - and for putting my mind at ease. It's great to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this particular issue. :)

I concur with your observation that the common feature is that the song title graphics for the tracks concerned fade out with a diagonal sweep. However, to compound matters it does not affect all DK tracks that have this diagonal sweep.

MTU – Your commitment to investigate the issue down track clearly reaffirms for me that my decision to purchase your product was the right one. Thanks for the Support.

Admin, I will send you 2 DK discs with the same problems and give a detailed list of the problem tracks. They are DKG-72 & DKG-74.

For the other Hoster users with DK discs, I also found 2 other songs that has the same problem. DK (original) #7404, "Hole Hearted" and DK #7516 "Emptiest Arms In The World" these 2 songs also has the same diagonal title sweep and also has the same graphic problems. But there are 2 other songs on these two discs that also have a diagonal title sweep that have no problems at all. If I find more, I will post here.

Regards, Dave

Thanks Dave. We'll look for them to come in. :)

Received the 2 discs with clear instructions. Thank you.

We just released Hoster 3.315, which was critical to get out so we now are shipping Microsoft Vista compliant software.

We will try to look at this problem this week. We're still critical to get Microstudio 4.000 released by the end of Feb, so that may delay our working on this. The important thing is for us to be able to create the problem.

Has this issue been placed in the 'too hard' basket ... or is it still a work in progress?

Thanks,

Brian

Good question. I have been waiting for my discs to be returned, but no luck so far. On May, 22, I submitted a ticket to support (I felt that this forum was not the right place to bring up the issue of the missing discs), and asked if someone would check on these two original discs, but got no reply. On July, 5, I got an e-mail from support stating that my ticket was closed.

I hope the original problem can be fixed but I hope even more I can get my discs returned. Remember these discs are no longer in production.

Thanks for your request to send your music to MTU, but it doesn't seem that there is any need to do so. I sent 2 original DK discs with a total of 6 unplayable songs on them. There is only the two other songs (from DK) I have found to date that don't play with Hoster. I am just interested in getting the problem resolved and mostly getting my discs returned.

Admin sent this reply after receiving my discs:

Khpro is a terrific program but it is not the answer to the problem.

This isn't a fix but it is a work around that will work until Hoster get's fixed. After you get the first one figured out the rest of them can move pretty quick.

Thanks for the advice but I currently use a different program as a work around and will stop using it as soon as hoster gets fixed. I use Khpro frequently and I have fun and do well with it, but sometimes my talents on Khpro leaves something to be desired.

I'm just a little bit worried about my original discs as they are no longer available (except maybe on e-bay) anymore.

Dave, I am sorry for being silent on the return of your discs. We have searched our offices and we did not find them.

The consultant who we would have given these too (he was working at MTU during Feb when you sent them in) is in the process of moving and his household "extras" are in boxes in storage until his new house is finished. I have discussed this with him, and he is trying to go through the boxes as he needs something in storage. So far no luck.

Last word from the builder is they expect to finish in September.

We owe you the discs and will somehow get them back to you.

It is clear that tracking "loaned" discs is very hard. I won't ask for it again. In fact, we had asked for CDROM copies and I wish you had done that. Then we would all be happy. Not trying to pass the blame, its our fault.

I am establishing new rules for the future... we don't want any discs sent to use that must be returned. :s

Dave Heidersche September 2nd, 2007 02:39 PM

Thanks Admin, your explanation is acceptable, and hopefully you'll be able to locate the misplaced discs. Do you have any idea if you are close to a fix of this problem? It would be nice to have it fixed by the next release or soon after.

Regards, Dave
