Beavis December 6th, 2006 06:43 PM

a little more details would help. what your using ??

gianluigi December 6th, 2006 08:24 PM

thanks for responding. i am using s video to rf modulator and coax to tv..it works fine but just no color. i have checked the secondary connection in the video card and it shows that there should be color. does this help?

Beavis December 6th, 2006 08:32 PM

it might be a wire. make sure everything is turned on before you fire up the computer. a lot of time those s-cables suck.

Beavis December 6th, 2006 08:33 PM

have you had it working before ?

gianluigi December 7th, 2006 03:09 PM

everything works fine it just doesnt go to the tv in color. tried everything but it stays black and white on the tv while the monitor is color

Beavis December 7th, 2006 03:25 PM

have you updated the drivers on your video card ? not through windows updates ??

and my question before was, has it ever worked properly ??

gianluigi December 7th, 2006 03:54 PM

brand new card just installed and tested at the store where i bought it.the card is ATI CATALYST control centre version 1.2.2475.36837 so thats all i know

Beavis December 7th, 2006 07:30 PM

what kind of rf modulator do you have ? that might be the problem.

gd123 December 7th, 2006 07:49 PM

If you are using an S-Video to RCA adapter, which connects from S-Video OUT of the ATI Video Card to RCA IN of the RF Modulator, then I would suspect the adapter Cable.

It is VERY easy to BREAK a PIN in the S-VIDEO Connector.

Break the right one...No Color.

Even brand new cards can have firmware updates, so you might check ATI site just to be sure.

Does the box say MADE BY ATI or POWERED BY ATI?

ATI grants other manufacturers the rights to use parts of their program, and they are marketed as POWERED BY ATI, but that is no guarantee the end product will perform as well as the ATI manufactured product. Every once in awhile one of them gives problems.

Just another possibility.

that was my first thought george, i remember when i got my first video card for hoster. i wasnt paying attention and it was powered by ATI. it also had an s-video out. it did not work! i purchased a simple built by ATI card with only an rca out and i havent had a problem since.

That's what I meant to quote. Sorry about that, Dale. Busy morning.

I have had a broken pin on a s-video cable do this problem exactly as you are describing it.

bobcox- with the Lord December 8th, 2006 11:41 AM

there should be a switch on your RF modulator 75 ohm or 300 ohm try that also make sure you are hooked to video in on mod and to tv coming out of mod.
also on your computer check your video card settings for color, and tv settings
you always have to set these with a new card.
i use 800x600 for TV.

I also had a pin problem cause this to happen. It wasn't broke but bent to the side. I straightened it out with tweezers and and was good to go.
