Can't load video cdgs or custom cdgs

When I try to import any of my video cdgs even though a few are in the
data base my computer says to put a cd in. I have one in and it isn't
reading it. I have a new laptop purchased from MTU (who else) and have
hoster V3.310 I have the same problem when I try to enter the custom
cdg I had made from Sound Choice. By the way I had no problem importing
the Sound Choice that I couldn't even duplicate with either of my mtu
burners.
Your forum is great. I learned how to save my songs onto an external hard
drive by reading it. Couldn't figure that out from the help manual. I have an 80 Gig hard drive but after entering 645 cdgs it is full and I still have another 200 to go.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on getting my video cdg
into my laptop.

Glenda,
If you are referring to trying to import VCD type karaoke files, then the answer is you can't. To use a VCD type, you have to add it to your playlist at the time you want to use it, by clicking the Video button up top and telling Hoster which file to load. This will be added to the bottom of your playlist and will disappear after it has played.

As far as your Sound Choice Custom CD, again if they are in VCD format it won't import permanently, but can be used as above.

How were you trying to duplicate your Sound Choice discs? What program were you using?

Sounds like you didn't buy a large enough external hard drive. If you get another (larger) drive you can copy those kma files to the other drive and then associate your hoster to the new drive.

I also have a SC Custom disc that I can't get to import. Why is that does anyone know ?

My Sound Choice custom cd is not in VCD format. It is just 11 songs in cdg
format. When I try to import it with Hoster it keeps telling me to put a cd in
and it is already in.
My internal hard drive is 80 gig and my external hard drive is 120 gig.
As far as programs that I use, I use nothing except what I buy from MTU.
I have a Plextor PX-716A and a stand alone Microboards also purchased from
you.

Are they Video Karaoke songs or regular CD+G?

If you have already imported 645 CDs then I would suspect the custom disc not Hoster or the drive.

Mine are just cdg. Has anyone EVER imported a SC custom disc or is it only ours that wont import ? Thanks

Glenda, first let clarify that I am not with MTU. I am just another customer. We try to help each other with problems and questions. If we can't solve it then MTUSupport or Admin will jump in and try to help.

With that said, lets look at the problem. I don't have a custom CD from Sound Choice so I can't look at one to compare. Have you looked at the CD with Windows Explorer? Does it list files such as "Track01.cda; Track02.cda; etc." or do the files have a different extension (3 characters after period)? (If the extension doesn't show on screen you will need to change Tools/Folder Options -View setting to show them)

Have you played the CD in a CDG player to make sure it works?

You said earlier that your 80 gig internal drive was full. How full? Is there any space left on it at all? If you don't have at least 25% (20 gigs) free on this drive you should move some or all of your song files to the external. Otherwise you are going to start having problems with the laptop if you aren't already.

Is yours also saying to insert a disc or are you getting a different error message?

StarSounds August 23rd, 2006 02:17 PM

Mine says~ cd/dvd drive not ready please insert disc and try again~ this process happens each time I try

Make sure you have the right drive selected. I'm Not trying to be a smart ..... but it can sometime change.

ddouglass August 23rd, 2006 02:39 PM

Is the drive spinning up when you tell it to add tracks?

Gary do you have a custom SC disc for comparison...I don't so not sure how they format them.

I have several, But I havent had a problem with any of them. a suggestion would be to copy them with microstudio then they would be for sure in a music format.

I have copied data before with a program (no to mention here) and The drive thought it was a music cd.

You also didn't mention whether you've imported other SC disks AFTER discovering the custom disk wouldn't work, If you can then I would suspect that it's just that disk for some reason, unfortunately SC is always trying to make it difficult for the honest computer users to use their product.
I have an older custom SC disk and it's just a standard multi-session. Not sure what theyre using now-a-days.

I am having the same exact problem. Here is my situation

We are using the new version of hoster 3.310. I have imported almost 500 cds including 2 Sound Choice Custom made CD's. 5 more of them won't copy. They are also the newest of the custom cd's. I don't know if anyone has noticed that yet. My oldest of the cd's that won't import is July 05.

I am having exactly the same errors, "cd drive not ready" in windows when I explore the cd it shows them as cd audio files, just like every other CD I have already loaded.

Also these cd's are all for the most part in great condition, so I do not feel it is a condition issue....

I know that this is a specific problem with the Sound Choice Custom CD's but I have talked to a few CSR @ Sound Choice, and pretty much hit the wall for help. They have not dealt with this problem enough for it to matter. Can MTU help?

Has anyone figured this out?
