had the same problem, 4 days ago, my laptop crashed , prior to crashing i imported some songs on my external drive, didnt rebuild my database till the ff. day..thats when it crashed..got my laptop fixed 2 days ago ,thats when i decided to back-up my primary ext. dr. to another ext. dr. when i tried to rebuilt my database my primary ext.dr. is only showing the cdg's i imported 4 days ago .all the songs were gone..i finally decided to delete all the songs on my primary ext. dr. and copied all the songs again back from my 2nd ext. dr. and rebuild my database..everything is fine now all the songs are in it ..

Are the files gone or just don't show up in Hoster after rebuild?

Are all the files in one folder or multiple folders?

Any error messages after rebuilding?

Freddy, that was where I was headed with this. I wanted to know if Hoster had reported any duplicate BookIDs. There are log files in the Hoster folder that may be of some help in figuring out which IDs got changed. That way you can check your books to make sure they are right. Glad you got it fixed.:g
